From the moment families arrived on Wednesday 13th August, the space was buzzing with excitement, curiosity, and calm.
Yes, calm, because this wasn’t your typical summer event. It was designed with neurodivergent children and families in mind, with zones for every kind of energy: creative, sensory, social, and quiet.
Parents and carers connected over coffee and resources, chatting with teams from NeuroPathways. There were smiles, hugs, and a few tears, the good kind, as families shared stories and found solidarity.
One parent told us, “It’s the first time he’s been happy and calm all summer”.
One of the standout moments was the drumming session led by Upbeat Music and Arts, where parents and children joined together in a shared beat, literally.
The day was packed with laughter and learning. Our partners were there to listen, offer guidance, and share resources with families. We were blown away by the turnout, the feedback, and the sheer warmth of the community. It wasn’t just a celebration, it was a living example of what happens when neurodivergent families are not just included, but truly centred in the way we plan, listen, and create together. To everyone who came, supported, volunteered,
or cheered us on: thank you. You made this day what it was.
Let’s do it again soon.
“We had a great time the staff were amazing and friendly and we would go to future events”
“My son enjoyed the sensory table activity”
“He loved every minute, he made friends and really enjoyed the shield of things he was good
at so he made one for his dad as well”
